FutureState is dead. Long live the Embassy..
Weekly intel on network-society futures, straight from a guy who fled two dictatorships and still thinks borders are optional.
Transmission #0 — The Reboot
Ola Operators,
If this hits your inbox it’s because you once touched Future State—a salon in Lisbon, Berlin, London, Dubai, or maybe just a late-night DM about SEZs in space.
Either way, thank you. You were part of the beta test. This is the upgrade.
Now, you might be wondering about the new callsign: 404Embassy.
Short version? FutureState was trying to be 17 things at once.
Long version? I spent the last 4 years navigating exits from authoritarian crackdowns, war zones, and living in airport limbo à la Tom Hanks (twice), obsessively mapping how people, capital, and ideas move when legacy nation-states glitch. That deserved its own dedicated logbook.
So here we are.
WHAT 404EMBASSY IS
An independent research studio + rogue newsletter documenting the rise of network societies, stateless builders, and jurisdiction hacks. It’s fieldwork.
It’s practical sovereignty for post-geographic lives.
404 – the error code where old maps glitch and new territories are discovered
Embassy – is our decentralized outpost for those charting these unmapped zones
Snail – portable sovereignty; home on your back 🐌
SO, WHO AM I, AND WHY THIS MISSION?
I’m Ray Svitla — Fractional CMO, research lead, network-society obsessive.
Built a Web3 research engine cited by Binance, The Block & Coindesk.
Ran 7 network-society events (700+ attendees; Vitalik dropped by).
Founded WAKA (100 k Gen-Z users) → cut CAC ×10 → raised $300 k.
Life résumé: Belarus (protest exit) → Ukraine (war exit) → Lisbon (now).
When official embassies stop picking up, you build your own. 404Embassy is that build — and my 7-year deep-dive commitment (year 2 in progress).
WHAT TO EXPECT IN YOUR INBOX:
Interviews – starting with Lou Kerner (CryptoMondays)
Field Notes – from conferences, pop-up embassies & weird IRL moments
Essays – on SEZs, DAO jurisdictions, and digital identity tools
Actionable Intel – less theory, more “how” and “WTF now”
Cadence: 1x/week (Thursdays), unless I’m crossing a border.
No paywall (yet). No fluff. Just encrypted signal.
WHY YOU’RE GETTING THIS
You’ve signaled curiosity for these ideas before — and this is where I’ll explore them more deeply, consistently, and publicly.
Soon, I’ll share more about:
Bespoke research collaborations
Sponsored embassy events
Zero-state playbooks
